On that day, I felt wings grow
Rising up, I learnt to fly.
Interrupting pain and my life’s flow,
I soared into the sky.
Above the clouds, bright sunshine,
Warmed my soul and my pale skin
The cold of pain, no longer mine,
As freedom took me in.
And though below me sorrow lives,
In your minds and in your hearts,
Physically, I can no longer give
But we are not apart.
The sun will break through the cloud
And your thoughts will be mine.
Muse your happy memories, aloud
For it will always be our time.
